Risk Characterization
|
|
Risk characterization evaluates the potential for adverse health effects by
estimating the cancer and non-cancer risks and evaluating uncertainty while
summarizing risk information. Risk characterization combines information from
the dose-response with the estimated dose of chemical exposure to the receptor
and derives a quantitative estimate of the risk to the receptor.
QEPA can calculate this potential risk
for current and future exposure routes. We can provide you with conclusions
that contain the recommendations for remedial action objectives, data
limitations, and recommendations for future work.
QEPA uses risk characterization
results, to prioritize sites from low to high, which allows you to allocate
the appropriate resources to reduce the associated risk to an acceptable level.
In addition, QEPA can calculate
pre-determined conservative values for a baseline comparison of
specific sites to quickly eliminate those sites, which are of little or no
risk to human health and the environment. QEPA
wants to provide you with information that will assist you in the best and
highest use of resources while an adequate level of security for human health
and the environment is maintained.
