REPEAT THE QUESTION PLEASE!

What should I do if I open an envelope and white powder spills out?

1. Cover the contents with anything avaliable.

2. Leave the room and close the door.

3. Wash your hands with soap and water.

4. Report incident to local police.

5. Notify building security or a supervisor. (1)

How do I know that my flu symptoms are not anthrax?

Inhalation anthrax begins with fever, fatigue, muscle aches, and dry cough, then progresses to severe respiratory problems. Upper respiratory symptoms such as runny nose, are usually not seen in people with inhalation anthrax.

Freedom Through an Informed Perspective

Have you ever wished that you could start your day over again? If you answered no, perhaps you have never received a speeding ticket, been in an accident, or did/said something that you wished you hadn't. If you said yes, haven't you thought, "If I had taken the other way I would have missed that cop", "If I had just left work on time, I may have avoided this accident", "If I would just think before I open my mouth". The truth is, "if" is a very important way to accept others and our mistakes, and learn from them. Lets change our perspective. Even if you had taken the alternative way home, who is to say what could have happened, an accident, a flat tire, and yes still even a speeding ticket. What if instead of avoiding our fears and problems we actually faced them armed with information, and a change of perspective. Instead of wondering which way to go home to avoid speed traps, you would decide to just slow down because you realize that it could save you, or another person's life.

Where else could we change our perspective? Lets focus on safety issues. Does your company have a comprehensive health and safety plan? Sure you could just not open your mail anymore and send someone else to the post office. What about your employees, have they had the necessary safety training to protect them in their day-to-day duties? If your company had a health and safety plan tailored to arm you with all of the latest information on OSHA regulations and bioterrorism, just think how that could add peace of mind and freedom to your day. Did you know that the simple act of taking time to designate and inform employee safety marshals could save lives? How informed are you about some of the most prevalent fears today? Are you sure that all of your employees understand your safety plan? Would you know what to do if you or one of your workers got exposed to anthrax? It won't happen to you? Well, then I guess you've never had a day that you wish you could start all over again.

THINK ABOUT IT!

DID YOU KNOW?

Hispanics accounted for nearly a third of the 15 workplace deaths in Georgia last year. State officials said employers are doing a poor job making sure Spanish-speaking workers understand safety precautions.
