Human Health Risk Assessment
|
|
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has identified
four objectives for the evaluation of human health at hazardous waste sites.
QEPA can achieve these four goals for you,
by evaluating the necessary information on the risk posed by existing
contaminants and evaluating the potential risk reduction resulting from the
remediation of impacted media. The four objectives identified by USEPA (1989) are:
To provide an analysis of baseline risks and determine the need for remedial action;
To determine chemical concentrations that may remain onsite and still be protective of human health;
To evaluate potential health risks resulting from various remedial alternatives; and
To provide a consistent process for evaluating and documenting public health threats at sites.
QEPA prepares risk assessments
consistent with and in accordance with EPA 540/G-89/004 OSWER Directive 9355.3-01
